Taking Home Jerome

There was a sad dog named Jerome

He was so sad because he was all alone..

Jerome lived in a lonely cage

At the local SPCA.

Mr. Jones took really good care of Jerome.

He gave him food, water and sometimes a juicy bone.

However, Jerome was all alone.

Jerome needed a loving home.

Every Saturday families came to find

A perfect dog that was one of a kind.

Jerome had never been in a dog show.

Jerome didn’t even have a yellow bow.

He didn’t have a very fancy name

He didn’t have a long, curly mane.

Every Saturday he would perk up his ears

And smile as he tried to swallow his tears.

Jerome wanted a home.

None of the families stopped to see

How kind and loving Jerome would be.

They wanted a dog that had been in a show;

They wanted a dog that wore a yellow bow.

One day a little boy named Eddie came to look at Jerome.

He said, “Mommy, he looks so sad.  He needs a home.

Jerome sat up very straight and perked up his ears.

Eddie smiled as he tried to swallow his tears.

“Mommy please let me take Jerome home.

Then I won’t feel all alone.”

“I’ll buy him a big yellow bow.

And enter him in a dog show.”

Mommy said, “Jerome,

We’re going to take you home!”

Mr. Jones said, “ Eddie take good care of Jerome.

Give him food, water and sometimes a juicy bone.”

Eddie was so happy. There were no tears.

Jerome didn’t even have to perk up his ears.

There is only one more thing to say about Jerome;

He is never, never alone.  He has a loving home.
