_______________________________________________________

A few days ago, a tragic death happened in our family.  In the midst of sadness, I wrote this poem:

Ode to October

October, please do not leave so soon

With your clear azure skies and

 sprinkles of white floating clouds.

Let your sweetness and promise

To change seasons and bring coolness

Embrace my broken heart and grief.

Dry my tears of hurt and pain

Like you take away morning dew

So magically into the waiting clouds.

October, please linger a while

And fill my empty heart with beauty

Like you paint the leaves brilliantly

 With wild colors and splendor.

It is too soon for you to leave.

I need for you to smile on me

And stay a little longer.
