Finding Clair
By Alayna Tiffany - Age 9

A look-alike of Clair
When I was visiting my grandmother, we decided to take a short walk.  Then we came upon a small kitten who looked like it had a home but it got let out to roam the neighborhood.

I decided to call the kitten "Claire."

When we first saw her, she rolled around like she wanted us to pet her.  Of course, we did pet her!

She wanted to come home with us, so she followed us almost all the way home.

I started to think that maybe she didn't have a home.  I began to worry because I did not want her to get hit by a car.  I also thought that maybe she wasn't being fed right.  She also did not have a collar or tag to identify herself.

The next day she followed us all the way home, as we were walking home from the pool.  It seemed like she wanted to get in the house to be fed, watered and cared for. My Granddad did not want her in the house because he thought she would annoy his dog, Sunny.

She stayed on the porch for a very long time, as we petted her and talked about what we should do.  We went in the house and then Clair decided to visit someone else.

I was still worried that night, so I thought about some solutions to our problems.

My grandmother knew that I was worried.  She told me about her friend, Laura, who took care of wild and orphaned animals.  She promised me that she would tell Laura about Clair and try to find her a home.

That evening, I called my parents and they said that maybe Clair was an outdoor cat and already had a home.  That did not keep me from worrying.  My Dad said the same exact thing.

I found out that the next day Clair looked a little chubbier, so I figured that someone was feeding her.  So maybe Clair did have a true and loving home.
